Lavender is one of the most used and well known essential oils we have available. It grows as a spiky bush native to the Mediterranean. It also grows abundantly in the US. The blue-violet flowers are where the oil is extracted from. It is a very versatile oil.
It can be applied to the skin to sooth burns, heal dandruff, psoriasis, acne and sores.
When added to a diffuser it creates a calm soothing feeling that helps to reduce stress, headaches, tension and insomnia.
It is widely used in massage to sooth aching muscles, rheumatism and sprains.
And it just plain smells wonderful!
When using Lavender Oil it is important to know your source. Oils should be distilled or cold pressed using plants that are high quality and organic if possible. A reputable source will ethically create a high quality oil that has very strong healing properties.
Always consult with a trained aromatherapist. Not all oils can be applied to the skin or ingested safely.
