Essential oil of the week - vanilla
Vanilla is one of the most well known smells we have. It is a comforting oil that is associated with foods such as ice cream and cake but it can also bring comforting thought and memories especially when burned in a candle. This oil is a calming oil and can be used to decrease stress, relieve headaches and decrease anxiety.
The strong essential oils come from the beans housed inside a pod which grow on large climbing vines in Mexico, Central America, Tahiti,Indonesia and Eastern Africa.
One of the best uses for Vanilla is to curb appetite. When inhaled it can quell hunger and food cravings and when ingested it can help sooth the stomach and settle queasiness.
This essential oil is very versatile and you should use it frequently.
Take a vanilla scented bath and treat your partner to a night of romance!

Superfood of the day - chickpeas
Chickpeas or garbanzo beans are an excellent food to protect your heart! They are high in magnesium which helps to relax the arteries, folate which helps to lower blood homocystiene levels and potassium which balances electrolytes. They are also a good source of iron, zinc and calcium.
They have a very high fiber content making them excellence for digestive health helping to prevent irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulitis.
These beans are very hard like most and need to be soaked overnight and boiled for 11/2hrs. Canned chickpeas are an easier way to use them and still contain important nutrients.
You make ask why are they called chickpeas? Well- I did my research and the answer is not very exciting. In a nutshell, it is derived from French and then English words that over the years have become chickpea.
Most people enjoy this food as hummus
Here's a holiday tip- get some plain organic hummus and add organic pumpkin puree to it. Scoop it with dark chocolate bark chips. Yum! It will be the easiest dessert you make!
